I have to admit that, while I understand where you're coming from, I do sort of like the sudio-enforced ending. I just wanted the guy to win so badly, I wanted someone who wasn't a pod person to finally listen to him...
No, I know and in a way it is oddly satisfying to see that moment of relief where McCarthy can finally relax his shoulders and exhale.
I'm tinkering with this idea and I think I'll go with it so it doesn't seem as black and white decisive: Instead of "The Should-Be End" I'll do the original with "The End" and my version as "The End?"
